The definition of Boom Bap (According to the Urban Dictionary):

1. Boom Bap:
A style of hip hop signified by a hard bass drum and snapping snare that is often EQed to the forefront of the beat.
Some examples include the album "Return of the Boom-bap" by Krs-One, the Duck Down record label.

Skilled in the trade of that old boom bap" is orginally from A Tribe Called Quest song "We Can Get Down."

2. Boom Bap:
Boom Bap is the roots of hip hop, it's the real type shit. boom bap refers to the sound of those hardcore drums you find in the roots of hip hop tracks.

Anyway, This is a mix of original instrumentals I did a couple years back. Its basically a tribute and, I guess a more modern take on a sound and style of hip hop that i grew up with, and love. I also wanted to take the opportunity on this mix, in hopefully not to much of a preachy or grumpy way, to point out the differences, as far as i see them, with what's going on in hip hop (or rap) now (in the mainstream anyway), to what me and my generation grew to love in the past.

Obviously art changes, and evolves if the boundaries continue to be pushed and the idea that, while this shit is about having fun, THIS IS ART.
Or it devolves. If creativity is a casualty of that change, and instead of people with the most skill getting the money, it becomes more about who can get the most money with the least amount of skill.
